TAUPO RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the committee*of the Ratepayers' Association was held on July 29 at Mr Ted Pearse's. Mr W. Stevens took the chair, Mr Birnie still being absent from Taupo. Taupo's Milk Supply: Mr G. Marlow was present at the meeting by invitation to discuss the question of Taupo's milk supply. Taupo Memorial Hall: Mr Pearse, as a delegate to the meeting of varkms Associations, gave a brief report on the business of the evening. He moved that a vote of thanks be passed to Mr W. J. Stevens for offering his services as chairman of the Taupo War Memorial Hall Association. The question of a delegate from the Ratepayers' Association to the executive committee of the Taupo War Memorial Association was discussed and Mr R. Sinclair was proposed and seconded. Mr Sinclair offered his services pro tem, but he will remain delinitely on the executive. Children's Playground: On behalf of the Business Association, Mr W. Stevens gave a brief fesume of affairs to date. Materials for the erection of a fence have been donated: Strainers and posts by Mr Leadbetter; wire netting by Mr W. Stevens, and staples by Mr Vedder. Mr Vedder has also donated a hardboard frame upon which Mr Currie will signwrite a notice that the area has been set aside for a Children's Playground, promoted by the Businessmens and Ratepayers* Associations of Taupo. A working bee of members of the Ratepayers Association, together with members of the Businessmen's Association, in full muster, will shortly foregather to erect the fence around the area for the playground. Already there is money in hand towards the provision of swings, etc. On this note the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr Pearse for once again allowing the committee to meet in his comfortable lounge.
