TAUPO ROD & GUN CLUB

Suggestions For The Minister A committee meeting of the Taupo Rod and Gun Club was held at Huka Lodge early in June, and was well attended, Mr R. Cheal, club president, being in the chair. The meeting had been called to consider matters which could be discussed with the Minister of Internal Affairs, who was scheduled to meet representatives of the Club on June 6th. Items which it was felt should be discussed included the following: That when the season dates are eventually amended, Lake and Rivers should close on the same day. That the Government be requested to take action condemning blocking of access roads at Waitahanui. That the opening up of access roads from Acacia Bay Road to the Lake edge should be carried out without delay. That the limit of trout taken should be increased to ten, and the regulation should be amended so that all fish caught should be included in the tally. That a progress report might be issued by the Department covering the research operations being conducted at present into trout habits. It was also proposed to raise the ouestion of breeding and liberation of pheasants in the Taupo District, and also to ask the Minister to assist in the liberation of Chukor 'in the Taupo District. After a general discussion the meeting closed.
