ESCAPED PRISONER RECAPTURED

After a comparatively brief spell of liberty an escaped prisoner from Napier jail was recaptured in Taupo last week by Constable E. H. Rowr--lands. (He was then in possession! of a motor-cycle believed to have been stolen, on which he had arrived late the previous evening. The prisoner, whose name was Frederick Helmer Johnson, was bought before Messrs V. Fail and A. H. Reid, justices, and remanded to Napier. Breach of Probation. Cyril Terence Alfred McKenna appeared before the justices, Messrs A. > H. Reid and W. H. Kent, on a breach of his probation order, in having failed to report to the police. He was remanded to Auckland. " .
