OBITUARY

We regret to record the death of Mr David Hood, who has been a resident in Taupo for the past 13 years. Born in Forfar, Scotland, he joined the Black Watch at the age of 17 and served with this regiment throughout the S'outh African War. He served in 1914-18 War with the N.Z. Reinforcements and went right through entering Germany with the Army of Occupation. After the war he was engaged in farming in the Wairarapa, and then retired in Howick in the Auckland district, eventually coming to Taupo. Mr Hood was a very keen angler and his kindly disposition made him many friends who will greatly miss his cheerful personality. His funeral was largely attended, many friends coming long distances. There were many beautiful floral tributes. He is survived by his wife.
