TAUPO GOLF CLUB

Annual Meeting The annual general meeting of the Taupo Golf Club was held at the clubhouse on Wednesday evening, February 27th, Mr L. Cheal presiding over an attendance of thirty-five members. In his presidential report Mr Cheal referred to the successful playing season, the general improvement in the course, the increase in membership from 157 to 188 and commented on inter-club matches. He congratulated the captain and committee on their management of the club's affairs and on the very satisfactory balance sheet, and thanked Mr K. E. Young and Miss R. McKelvie for their capable management of the catering for teas and lunches. The captain, Mr K. E. Young explained plans for the development of the new nine holes which was proceeding satisfactorily, stressing that the present playing areas would not be neglected, and expressed the gratitude of the committee to all who had donated trophies, cash, clubhouse appointments and trees. The election of officers and committee for the present year resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr L. Stephenson; president, Mr L. Cheal; vice-president, Mr R. G. Tappenden; captain, Mr K. E. Young; vice-captain, Mrs A. L. Graham; secretary, Miss J. A. Branson. Committee: Mrs K. E. Young, Mrs C. Vedder, Messrs A. J. Collett, D. Falkner, J. G. Miles, E. Ryan, L. Stephenson.
