THE SOUTHERN LAKE SIDE

We are pleased to notice from correspondence that the regular weekly issues of the Taupo Times has resulted in a quickening of community consciousness in the settlement at the southern end of the Lake, especially in Tokaanu. This is a healthy sign, and we take this opportunity of assuring correspondents, and the residents of these communities, of the hospitality of our columns for recording their public and social activities. Publicity of this kind is a spur to progress, and at the same time compensates to a measured degree to the comparative isolation of some of our lakeside communities.
