Te Aroha Tennis Club.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

On Monday evening last the annual general meeting of the Te Aroha Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Tourist Office; As showing the interest in Tennis matters there was a good muster of members and intending members present. Mr W. Maingay was voted to the chair. The report and balance sheet of the past season was read and adopted, the latter showing a credit balance of £1 2s 6d.

The following officers have been elected for the coming season : Patron, His Worship the Mayor ; President, Mr McGirr ; vice-presi-dents, Messrs Brodie, T. Mclndoe, P. Gilchrist, Wigg, 0. F. Pilling, W. Maingay, and Rev. P. Cleary ; Secretary, Mr W. Quane ; Treasurer, Mr E. Payze ; Committee, Misses Hare, Willis, A. Stanley, Brownlee and Messrs Maingay, Harris. Seccombe, Kirby, Payze, Hanna, Quane. The Chairman in welcoming the new Committee referred to the hearty way in which the office" bearers and members had co-operated in the past season in making that season such a success. The secret tary reported matches played, numbering thirteen, seven of which had been won, two drawn, and four lost. The 27th of the present month was fixed as opening day for this season. The Club propose holding a tournament starting the second week in November for members of the Club ; the prize in the • shape of a pair of racquets, to be given by the Club. As the entry fee is fixed at Is there should be some good contests among the members. During the evening the Chairman, in a neat little speech, pres sented the retiring secretary, Mr R. B. Seccombe, with a fountain pen, as a mark of appreciation from the Club of the energetic manner in which his services had been rendered to the Club during his time of office.
