Manawaru Notes.

(Own Correspondent)

The opening ceremony of the new Hall proved a great success, and the proprietor, Mr Thackeiy, had every reason to be proud of the gathering. If the Hall is as full every time it is let, it will speak well for the district. I noticed amongst those present from Te Aroha our old f. 'end Mr Tom Donovan, Mr Robinson. Mr and Mrs McStveeney and about a dozen others ; Mr and Mrs H. Magill from Waihou ; and representatives from Waiorongomai, Shaftesbury, Gordon, and Te Aroba West. The music was supplied by Mr Donovan,Mr and Mrs Smith, Mr Hughes, and Mr Beer; songs were contributed by Messrs Bathe and Beer. Excellent refreshments were supplied by the ladies. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr and Mrs Thackery, and all joined in singing “ For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow.”
