Piako Mounted Rifles

INSPECTION PARADE

On Saturday afternoon last an inspection parade of the Piako Mounted Rifles was held in Mr Glynn Lewis’ paddock, Waihou. Colonel Wolfe, Officer Commanding the District, and Colonel Bell, Officer Commanding 2nd Regt. A.M.R., were the inspecting officers. They were accompanied by Staff Sergt.-Major Coleman and Captain Brown, Mounted Instructor. Captain Tattersall and Lieuts Campbell and Rowe and 47 rank and file were in attendance. The men, a smart military lot, mounted on some of the best upstanding hacks in the Thames Valley, were a credit to the district, and their officers have every reason to be proud of them. A few movements were indulged in, when the rain put a step to further drill. Several matters of importance relative to Lord Kitchener’s approaohing visit to the Dominion were addressed to those present on parade.
