Waihou Horse Fair.

The above fair commenced about 11 o’clock on Tuesday, and ended at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Farmers’ tOo-operative Auctioneering Company. Ltd., conducted the sale, while Mr Geo. McCullagh wielded the hammer, and maintained his high reputation as a salesman. There was a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, amongst which we noticed qui + e a number of new faces, this showing that settlement is growing apace. There were some 350 horses entered, comprising unbroken stock, medium and heavy draughts, hacks and light harness horses. Bidding; was not by any means brisk, and, with few exceptions (he prices received were on the low side. The price of horse flesh has been down for some time. There is, however, a slight upward tendency of late.
