Manawaru Notes.

(Own Correspondent)

Mr Bser is in charge of the building operations at the Town Hall, which fact will ensure the structure beiDg of the best workmanship possible. I notice that Mr Leaman is building a large residence on Mr C. Smith’s farm. I am sorry that I trod on Mr Squirt ell’s corns by my little paragraph in last Saturday’s issue. He takes exception to a remark I made concerning the payments made by the two dairy companies doing business. Let me assure Mr Squirrel that I never try to disparage, but always endeavour to make things look h jpeful ; but Mr Squirrell kno.vs that facts are facts, and if I bad known that his Company was paying a bonus I should have been only too glad to have made a note of it. However, I must congratulate his Company on having such a successful year, It has clone remarkably well, seeing what a small supply of mi k it has had. I would venture a suggestion for next year whereby Mr Squirrell’s Company might increase the bonus a little more, and perhaps J.S.'s salary might also go up, and he would at the same time receive the gratitude of the settlers. It is this : Only work the factory every other day. This is a little matter that I would like to draw Mr Squirrel’s attention to in regard to that bonus. Don't you think the Oouuv.ny ought to have allowed a little interest on the shares r All the eomjvanies around a 1 e paying 5 or t! per cvnt. on their share of capital, while Mr Sqnirreu's Company has never paid a prune , It -,s ret business to neglect tins, and dees net create c mtidenee. I knew that Mr S. is not to blame, and that he is a good servant to the Comnam , but as 1 siid before -facts lire facts.

In careering .•uvum’ in my motor 0-sr the other morning l had a most agreeable surprise. 1 found that we were blessed with a music teacher. Miss Holmes. \\ h.m Manawaru can support a music teacher things are simply humming. Henchteith there should bo no discordant notes in our midst.
