GUM DIGGER S’ QUARREL

Auckland. June 23. News was received from Helensville this evening that a serious stabbing affray had occurred at Kumeu on Monday night, the victim being a man named John Hansen Scott. Scott and a man nam°c John Nelson were drinking in the latter’s whare anc quarrelled, and it (is alleged that Nelson gat on top of Scott and inflicted nearly a dozen wounds on parts of the body with a knife. After the attack Scott crawled into the bush and remained there all night in an unconscious condition, beingMiscovered early this morning and taken to the Hospital,
