»Sm, —In your Saturday’s issue I see a protest from Mr J. Squirrell in regards to the tone of Your Own’s Manawaru notes, whatj a touchy, sensitive atom of anatomy he must be, all funny bones surely, and fuJ of audacious impudence to try to teach your Manawaru Correspondent his business. This is in a lino with his last effusion in your column, which, if I remember right, was nearly as audacious, trying to teach his Creator, the Almighty, how to run this small section of the universe on his own more up-to-da'e improved lines, I think, sir, if “Your Own” wanted to disparage Johnny’s hopeloss love he would have used his versatile peu to better advantage than he di I by simply stating that last reason the New Zealand Dairy Association paid out to the suppliers at their Manawaru creamery ll£d. Johnny’s hopeless 9d, or if ho had waited till this season’s balance sheets were issued, and included their prices in his notes. Was he afraid, Mr Editor, that your Correspondent’s notes might fall into the hands ot the Directors of the Thames Valley Co op,, and so have a detrimental effect on the negotiations now in hand for the disposal of Johnny’s love ? Sir, I think the Directors mentioned, are business rnen who know what they are doing and will not be cajoled by irresponsible News Notes, or the suave tongue of the irresponsible nonshareholder whose presence Mr John Squirrell and his colleagues considered necessary ans expedient to have with them on their recent round t ips of inspection. (Just to give the thing the amount of tone it required ; I take it), or the statement that the best, half of the New 'Zealand Dairy Association suppliers would supply them if they bought. The N.Z.D.A. suppliers know that their Company paid out the record price for butter fat last season as a butter-making concern for the Dominion, and know when they are well off. Once bitten twice shy. But don’t get disparaged yet, I know there is not much to show after three years of hawking your boneless love around. Don’t give up all hopes after so few refusals, But if she is such a dear payable, loveable creature, why want to dispose of her at all P—l am, etc. “ Your Own’s Backer.”
