Maurice’s Vaudeville.
This evening in the Public Hall the above talented company of comedy artists will give a very choice selection of songs, dances, sketches and acrobatic work. Chief amongst these may be mentioned the work of George Sorlie, who impersonates the coon. He is a very tricky dancer and a wonderful manipulator of the bandmaster baton or staff. It is a perfect revelation to see him do this turn.
The Daphne sisters are two weegirls who dance and sing very cleverly. They are worthy to hold the boards of the best variety theatre.
Pearlie Golden is a clever clog dancer and singer. Her efforts at the Academy Theatre, Waihi, on Thursday evening, met with round after round of applause. Thelma Woods may be best described as a dramatic vocalist. She has in her repetoire a really strong item in the song about “ The Fire Brigade ” Shaw and Armour are the laughter provokers. Their burlesque boxing match has to be seen t 6 be appreciated.
Walter Jamieson has a good baritone voice which he uses in songs like “ Down in Poverty Street.”
The performance concludes with a screaming farce, which is well acted. There should be a large attendance as the prices are popular for such a good company.
