River Silting Question.
A meeting of the Silting Association was held at Paeroa the other evening, and we trust they will continue to meet until such time as they have gained the desired goal. The members present at the meeting were Messrs Nathan, Brunskill, Tetley, Robinson, and Niccol secretary). Mr J. Nathan presided, The secretary was instructed to write to the Miners’ Unions at Waikino, Waihi, and Karangahake, and ask if they will receive a deputation to lay before the unions the objects of the Silting Association.
It was decided to write to the committee of the Auckland Winter Show, pointing out the damage being caused by the mining tailings, and asking for assistance in endeavouring to have further damage prevented. The subscription lists to be circulated throughout the district were approve:!, and the secretary was instructed to forward them to various prominent people throughout the district.
