Te Aroha District Co-operative Dairy Company
ANNUAL VISIT OF INSPECTION Yesterday the directors of the Te Aroba District Co-operative Butter Co. paid their annual visit of inspection to the various creameries under their control in this district. The party consisted of Mr Thos. Gavin (Chairman of Directors), Messrs W. A. Taylor (Waihou), S. V, Knight (do Aroba West), and F. M. Stringe (Mangaiti) ; the Secretary (Mr F. W. Wild) An l the Manager of the Central Factory (Mr Morrow), and press representatives were also present. The party started from Messrs Gordon Bros’, stables shortly after t) o’clock and com menced work at the Te Aroha West creamery, which was thoroughly inspected. This creamery’has 41 suppliers and is thoroughly up to-date, it runs three 440 gallon Alfa Laval separators, and the amount of milk taken in the flush of the season is ba’f ns big aar-iin as any of the other creameries. With the exception of a slight “ skim milk” dispute—quickly rectified—everything lias worked satisfactorily’ during the season. Mr A. G. Wil* liams is the manager-in-charge. The Dlrrc ors decided to make various improvements inside the budding, and have a concrete gutter along the ou’side; also to have the present enclosed wa te drain replaced by an open concre f e drain leading into a septic tank. Tho Mangaiti creamery was next visited, and everything was in firstclass order, under tlie management <>f Mr B. C. Co >per. Thero arc some 19 suppliers, who supp’y 1200 gallons daily in the flush of the season. This creime’y has two 440-gal separators, a first-class pasteuriser, and one of the latest Danish Diddle skim milk measurers, which gives (mire satisfaction.
After leaving tho Mangaiti creamery a start was made in tho direction of Lower Waitoa. A halt was made at Mr Fred Strange’s homestead, where a most, palatable spread was 1- in out by Mrs S range. Needless to say, the party fe't greatly rt freshed on continuing their j urney. At Waitoa a number of sottiers were present tcT lay various matters before the Directors. Mr Eitton acted as spokesman, and amongst other things asked for an additional separator, better drainage from factory etc. The Chairman promised to attend to the matter. The question, of Moisture ” was also discussed, Mr Fitton also suggested representatives on tho Directorate from each creamery.—The Chhairman said there would be no objection provided they took the responsibility at the Dank. The Central at Waihou was next visited, and everything therein was found clean and sweet. It was decided to paint the building and open up main drain and put in 9 inch pipes- Thero are some 22 suppliers, and the whole is under the management of .Mr Morrow, with Mr Weir as butter maker.
The Turangamoana and Maungawhare Creameries will be visited to-morrow (Wednesday), and the Okauia site will also be inspect ;d.
