Ohinemuri County Council
At the monthly meeting of the above the following husiueas was transacted : Tenders were accepted as follows . —Forming 45 chains of PaeroaWaitoa Road and erecting a bridge, P. Treanor, £174 3s 4d ; re-forming and improving a portion of the Waitekauri to Durbar Mine Road, S. J. Bain, £4 18s. The chairman, solicitor an 1 clerk were appointed to represent the Council at the inquiry as to the proportion of the cost of maintaining the PaeroaWaihi main road to be paid by the Waihi Borough Council, It was decided to remove a sewer that runs through the Thames Valley Co - operative Dairying Company’s property at Paeroa, formerly a road, if the company will pay £lO towards the cost. The engineer was authorised to procure a new boat for the Puke ferry, and it was decided to erect a gas lamp at Netherton, opposite the rails way station, t Word was received that the Bank of New Z'aland had paid the final instalment of £IOOO of the £SOOO being contributed by the Bank in making roads and bridges on the Waitoa Estate. It was decided to ask the Coromandel Council to promote a local Bill to separate Coromandel from Thames and Ohinemuri for hospital and charitable aid purposes. A grant of £2O was made [towards the cost of the Ohinemuri district court at the Auokland Winter Show. The report of the Finance Committee showed the overdraft to be £9974 3s 9d; total indebtedness, £10,078 16s lid ; receipts last month, £4345 13s 6d. Accounts amounting to £3366 14s 2d were passed for payment, A deputation of Waikino residents waited on the Council and asked for a reduction in the price of water. Consideration oi the matter was deferred until next meeting.
