ASSAYS FOE PEOSPECTS

At the monthly meeting of the Council of the above the following of local interest was dealt with :

The secretary Murphy’s Find Syndicate, Te Aroha, wrote :—“I am enclosing herewith certificate from the Inspector of Mines, Waihi, showing our bona fides in prospecting work, and am writing to ask you about doing some essay work for us. We have cut through a very likely looking reef from which we are now taking samples of stone, and should like to know what quantities you require sent down for purpose of assay and testing. This work I understand you undertake for prospectors free of cost, and shall be indebted to you if you can do this for us. Any other information you may be able to give or require I shall be most happy to, receive or supply.” It was decided to write to the Mines Department explaining that the School did essays free of charge to Department or prospector, for bona fide individual prospectors, and to ask the Department to bear the cost in the case of companies or syndicates.
