Waikato Presbytery.
FIRST MEETING
The first meeting of the newly formed Waikato Presbytery was held in St. Andrew’s Church, Hamilton, on Tuesday, December Ist, Rev. T. Scott, M.A., was voted to the chair. After the new Presbytery had been constituted and the roll of ministers and voting elders formed, the election of Presbytery officials took place. Rev. T. Scott, M.A., of Rotorua, was elected moderator for the period ending June 30th, 1909, the Rev. W. White, M.A, of Waihi, being elected Presbytery clerk.
It was decided that the next statutory meeting be held on the first Tuesday of February, in the Hamilton Church.
Rev. W. White was appointed moderator of the Tauranga charge, rendered vacant by the death of the Rev. Wm Gillies. It was decided to put on record the great services rendered to the Presbyterian Church bv Mr Gillies, a committee being appointed for that purpose. Mr E. Adams, of Hamilton, applied for license by the Presbytery. Messrs A. Gow and W. Blair were appointed to examine and report upon Mr Adam’s sermon and lecture. Permission was given to the Paeroa congregation to transact certain business in connection with the building of a church and manse It was decided to take steps towards the formation of Home Mission stations in the King Country and the Thames Valley Districts. Other items of Home Mission business having been transacted, the meeting was adjourned until 10 a.m, December'lsth, when the whole subject of Church Extension within the bounds of the Presbytery will be dealt with.
