Shooting Match.

PIAKO MOUNTED RIFLES V. RIFLE CLUB. The above match was fired off at the local range on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for the Defence Rifle Club by 5 points. The weather was fairly good for shooting, a slight tricky wind blowing. Lieutenant Campbell and Capt. Wild were in charge of the volunteers and Rifle Club respectively. When the last two men went down to fire at the 600yds, the volunteers had a lead of 18 points, but Rifleman D. Wallace proved equal to the occasion, putting on the very creditable total of 33 out of a possible 35, beating his man (Lieut. Campbell) by 19 points, while Rifleman Mclnman also proved superior to his partner by 6 points, thus winning the match for the Rifle Club by the narrow margin of five points.
