THAMES DEFEATS WAIKATO. At Hamilton on Saturday tho Thames representative team met the Waikato representativec in the return match, and after an exciting and well contested game secured a victory by six points to three. A number of enthusiasts’ made the journey, but as no excursion was arranged— last year’s experience proved this to ’be an unpayable proposition—the number of visitors from Thames was not large. The game was fast and furious, and was decidedly interesting. The Thames forwards played a splendid game, and the win was well deserved. For Thames Hayward scored a try, which was not converted, and Winder' kicked a goal.

AUCKLAND DEFEAT GOLDFIELDS.

Waihi, September 6.

The Auckland - Goldfields match was played at Waihi on Saturday, and attracted a good attendance. The.game was won by Auckland by ten points to three. In the first spell Auckland scored five points and Goldfields three. Magee scored for the visitors, which Gillett converted. Johnson scored for Waihi and Brenan failed to convert.

In the second spell Auckland had the best of the game, but could only manage to score another five.points, and the victory thus rested with the visitors by ten points to three.
