An aeronaut named Jones made an ascent at Wattrville, Maine, in the presence of 20,000 people, in a dirigble balloon Shortly after the ascent commenced the balloon took fire and the gas exploding, the aeronaut fell a distance of 500 feet, being instantly killed.
