Oddfellows’ Ball at Morrinsville.

A MO>T SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

The local hall presented a very busy I appearance on Wednesday afternoon, when a number of willing; Oddfellows 1 were transforming the bare walls into a picture of greenery, with tho aid of cabbage trees, wattle flowers and ferns, and the result of their labour was most favourablely commented on. There was a large attendance at the ball in Iky evening, the weather, though threatening for a wet night, cleaved shortly after eight o'clock, to the delight of the Committee. Thirty - live couples took part in the grand march which was neatly oxocuh'd. t in' floor was in splendid order, and the music, which would have boon hanl to snrjiass, was rendered by Pro. J. J. Watts (piano), Bro. J. C. R. Watts (violin), and Mr M. Seales (cornet) ; extras being played by Mrs Campbell, and Misses Gummer and Pretty. Bro. A. Cummer carried out the dual offices of M.O. and Secretary in a highly efficient manner, and was greatly assisted by the other members of the Committee ; the lady friends of the Lodge assist<'d with* the supper arrangements, their help being much appreciated. Before commencing the second part of the programme Bro. Brayshaw, Noble Grand, in an appropriate speech t hanked all present for the hearty maimer in which they had assisted the ; Lodge by being present there that evening, and he expressed the hope that the Lodge would meet with the saute success next year, he also pointed out a few of (he benefits gained by becoming an Oddfellow and concluded by wishing all a most enjoyable time, winch was heartily endorsed by those present : the fact that all enjoyed themselves was evidemvd in that they wore loth to leave when the programmo oone tah'd at 2,3*' a.uk. and the fair sex were so ; interested in dtyvUxv.ng the merits ot the [ Isall, that no ilv" than tour ladies > umlweUa* were Mv Ivlnv.e, winch the j Secretary wit' W- paeaxed tv h-av.n te the j ew nev-s on upp.Uv.,dV>W‘v.
