Te Aroha Defence Rifle Club.

On Wednesday evening last a meeting of the above club wac held in the Hot Springs Hotel Sample Room when there were present;—Messrs F. Wild ( Pesident, in the chair ), J. G. Beswick ( hon. Secretary), J. Me Kee senr., W. Mclaman, A. F. Burton, J. Salmon, J. R. Stanley, W. Dickson, Sid Stanley, G. Mckee, J. Johnson, A. Calder, G. Hirst, A. Mckee, W. D. Maxwell, and J Maingay. Minutes of previous mseting were read and confirmed, and correspondence read.

A challenge was received from the Waikino Rifle Club to fire a match at To Aroha. —On the motion of Ihe Chairman, seconded by Mr J. E. Stanley, the challenge was accepted. The match is to be tired on the local runge on Saturday ,12 September, 10 men a-side. —It was decided that mombers go into qracticc, as ti e (earn will be selected on Wednesday next.

A short discussion took place relative to providing the Club's own target, when it was eventually decided on the motion of the Chairman seconded by Mr Salmon, that two targets of each size be made. The necessary calico and timber was promised by the President and Secretary sespcctively ; while mouthers present ofTt rod to mike the targets. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Burton, seconded by Mr Maxwell that the Secretary write to the Defense Council, thio'ije'h the otlicer Commanding the District, and enquire the oflic'al position of the Club with rogaad to the To Aroha Dist rict (title Range, shed, targets, etc., provided by the Govormenl. The following now members were elected :—Messrs Jus, Johnstone (Waitoa), \V. A. Biggs, Ci. McKee, D. Wallace, K. A. Bruce. New Honorary members : Messrs Robert and Charles Larney, las Maloney, J. Salmon, and Peter Johnson, A Committee was appointed to confer with the Volunteers in connection with the use of the title range.
