MORRINSVILLE
Own Correspondent,
—Hockey—
The paragraph which appeared in your Thursday’s issue, stating that the Morrinsville Hockey Club had failed to keep their engagement is not correct, as they did not consent to play on Wednesday. The first intimafton the Secretary received was on Monday, stating that Te Aroha had arranged to come on Wednesday, and owing to the shortness of the notice and the players being some distance apart, and having played a match on Saturday, it was impossible to get a team. A reply to that effect was sent. Te Aroha, however, wired that arrangements were fixed for the season and
still wanted to play. The Secretary wired again, regretting that Morrihsville could not play on that date, so to claim a win on that account is hardly in the interest of sport. The local players "are still looking forward to a match with Te Aroha and hope to be able to come to an arrangement to play when the Te Aroha team is en route to Rotorua. : : —New Business —
Mr Scholium has already got the timber on the ground for the shop he intends having erected on the property in Studeholme-street. He recently purchased this property from Mr Snell. The shop is already let, Mr D. Ganley, of Auckland, having decided to start in the tailoring business here, and being the first on the scene, will no doubt reap full benefit for his enterprise. -r— Creamery— The creamery is now closed for the season and the suppliers are busy discussing arrangements for the coming season. Oddfellowahip— The Oddfellows Lodge is miking steady progress, several new members having joined, and there is every indication of it becoming a strong inatitu tion.
—Our Roads — ! A start has been made with the Yoads on Mr Page’s property, which, when finished, will give the town a •much larger appearance, though the weather at present is anything but favourable for road works.
