HEAVY HAILSTORM.
On Thursday, afternqdd* about 4 o’clock, Te Aroha was vwitea by a shower cf bail that will live long m the memory of those priviledged to .v see it’ The storm- came with very ygj little warning, and broke over the town with alarming suddenness, lor about twenty minutes hailstones as large as pigeon eggs came down and .:<• dropping on iron roofs, verandahs, etc., a deafening noise. Horaae, cattle, in fact every living thing quickly sought shelter, while several _ horses attached to milk carte, etc.. . I bolted. In a very short time the streets presented a very pretty sight dressed in white. Photographers , could be seen taking snap-shots m all directions, and some excellent pic* tores resulted. , The sanatorium grounds present*! a beautiful picture and was greatly admired by those priviledged. A good deal of glass used fc£hot* houses, etc., was broken.
