Shooting Match.
On Saturday afternoon some half-a-dozen members of the Piako Mounted Rifles met on the new rifle range, for the purpose of firing for Wallace’s rophy. The weather was all that could be desired for shooting, very little wind and steady light. The .Quartermaster-Sergeant was in charge of the squad, and the result of the scores is as under : Trooper Shearer . 51 Quarter- Master-Sergeant Devey 50 Corporal Larney 50 Trooper Driver 50 Trooper Cooper 41 Trooper Osborne ... ... 14 ■ Up to the present the competitors for this trophy have been fairly dven. Wins have been secured by Quarter-master-Sergeant Devey, Corporal Larney,Troopers Shearer and Cooper, so it is not by any means a walk-over.
