Installation of Mayor.

Mr R. L. Somers was duly installed for the third time into the Mayoral chair of the Borough of Te Aroha on Wednesday evening last. Councillors present spoke in eulogistic terms concerning Mayor Somers, and his capabilities as a leader. Mr Somers thanked the Councillors for their kind remarks, and trusted they would have a prosperous twelve months, and that much good work would result. Mr Somers said that he wished to give them plenty of warning, in stating that he did not intend to again aspire to the Mayoral chair, and so they could look out for somebody in the meantime. After the meeting the Mayor invited those present to partake of light refreshments. Needless to say the invitation was accepted by the Councillors and Borough staff, Cr Donaldson (Piako County). Engineer Metcalf, and Press representative. A sumptuous banquet was laid out, and numerous toasts were proposed and drunk with musical honours.
