Farewell to Miss Crombie.

• A farewell social was tendered to Miss Crombie in the Public Hall last night by the members of St. Dawd’s choir, Sunday school and friends. There was a large attendance of friends and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Mr G. Sherlock was chairman, and a good programme of musical items was given, the gem of the evening being the song and cakewalk by Miss Nora Sheehan,

The following was the programme : - Overture, Miss Spooner (piano), Messrs Sherlock (cornet) and G. Sherlock (violin) ; song, “ Starlight,” Miss lunie Wallace; Maori haka, Master Cornett; sleigh song, Miss Crombie’s pupils; song and cakewalk, “Ma Kentucky Tabe,” Miss Nora Sheehan ; pianoforte sol s, Misses Bossons and Eva Johnson. The accompaniments were played by Misses Crombie and Eva Johnson. Between the xn isi al items dancin was indulged in by a unmber of those present I he ramie was provided by an orchestra, comprising Miss Faes (piano), Messrs Molnman and Sherlock, jun. (violins) and Geo. Sherh ck (cornet),while Misses Spooner, 11. Stanley, and B jssous also played extras, Mr Bonny officiating as MC. '• ' ■

During the evening, Mr Sh°rlock, chairm..u, on behalf of other churches, expressed his appreciation of Miss Crombie’s services, while the Rev. Robertson and Mr Hubbard, also spoke. On behalf of the committee Miss Era Johnscii presented Miss Crombie with a gold cable bracelet, who briefly replied thanking them for the gilt. Refreshments were handed round by a committee of ladies and were greatly appreciated.
