[Our Own Correspondent.] The Tennis Club, formed some few months ago at Waihou, has, under the direction of its energetic secretary, Miss H. Taylor, and a willing committee, made good progress in the preliminary arrangements, The first match on the new court was played on Saturday last wheD a visit was received from the Te Uruwhao Club. Mr Rice in a few words on behalf of the local club, heartily welcomed the visicors; and also took advantage of the occasion to tender Mr Shine, who was present, the thanks of the club for his generosity in allowing the use of his ground for the tennis court. Mr Hanna, in a neat speech replied on behalf of the visitors. Messrs V. Hanna aucf J. Torrens ablj' carried out the mties of referee. Afternoon tea was kindly p-ovided by the lady riends of he club. The afternoon’s play re~n’ted as follows :
