If the Government refuses to make any practical advances, the nation is entitled to know whether it is pleading for dear food or for fear of foreign retaliation. Sir Joseph Ward, when visiting St. Pauls to select a site for the late Mr Seddon’s monument, was met by a party of schoolboys, and readily responded to the invitation to speak in the crypt, which rang for five minutes with a message of advice.
