SECOND TEST MATOS. (By Telegraph—'Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The second test match, Englishmen versus New Zealand, began yesterday in fine weather. About 4,000 were present New Zealand batted first, scoring 165, the chief contributors being Hemus 38, Tucker 23, Sale 19, Williams 19. Douglas tooh 7 wickets for 49, and when stumps were drawn for the day the Englishmen had ‘lost five wickets for 80. The scores jvere Johnson 4, Fox 13, Burns 24, Harrison Douglas 18, Page (not out), 3, Brans - ton ''not out) 1. Upham took four of the wickets for 50. The game was resumed at 11.30 ths morning.
Before play began in the last test match, Mr De Trafford, on behalf of the M.C.O team, presented Mr T. Ralpael, secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, with agold match-box and cigar-cutter in recognition of his services to the team, and spoke highly of the arrangements made on their behalf.
