Liberal and Labour Federation.

A WAIHOU BRANCH FORMED

Last night, in the Waihou Public Hall, the meeting called to form a branch of the Liberal and Labour Federation at Waihou. There were fourteen persons present. Mr Timmins proposed Mr Abbey as Chairman but Mr Abbey moved an amendment that Mr Timmins occupy the Chair. This was seconded and carried. The Chairman, stated that the meeting had been called to discuss the advisability of forming at Waihou, and he therefore proposed that such a branch be formed. This proposal was seconded by Mr Abbey and carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Abbey; seconded by Mr Timmins, Mr Tbos Bellamy was elected president. On the motion of Mr Timmins Mr Abbey was elected as secretary. Mr. 0. H. Mclnman explained the constitution of the Federation. He commented on the paucity of the attendance that evening, but said that it was usual fora first meeting to be a small one. At the first meeting held in Te Aroha, there were only eight persons present, but at the second meeting held a fortnight later 75 people were present. On the motion of Mr Abbey it was resolved that the next meeting be held on Thursday March 21st. The following were proposed as members: —J. Timmins, Mrs Timmins, Mr P. Timmins, Mr M. Timmins, J. St George, Mrs St George, Mr A- Tattersall, Mr A. Bell, Mr J. O’Grady, Mr M. O’Grady Mr P. O’Grady, Mr G. Buckly, Miss Kate O’Grady, Mrs O’Grady, Mr Thos. Bellamy, Mr W. R. Allison, Mr Frank Rooney, Mr F. Bowkett, The above list numbers thirty-three. On the motion of the Chairman, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Mclnman for the information he had imparted. The meeting was then concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman. _____
