AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKET.

There has been very little alteration in the local produce market generally during'the past week. The prices of Southern potatoes have continued to advance, but the high values asked have greatly reduced the demand and consumption. In onions very little business was done, and consignments by the mail steamer, Sonoma, from San Franciscn, due on Monday next, •will arrive to a bare market. In the meantime, nearly the whole of the shipments for Auckland have already been sold. There is no change in the values of grain and fodder worth mentioning. There was an excellent Bupply of vegetables at the auctions to-day, principally cauliflowers, of superior quality, all of which realised satisfactory values. In dairy produce the supply of butter was very short indeed, and farmers’makes sold at prices equal to and above factory kinds at auction to-day. Stocks have now completely run out, and the new season’s supply being late in coming forward, the demand could not be satisfied. Eggs were in fairly good supply to an unlimited demand. Cheese was again so scarce that none was offered at auction. Poultry was in heavier supply than usual, but prices ruled high. The bulk of the turkeys sent in were on the light side, and prices ruled accordingly. Only a small number of young pigs were sent in, and the demand was strong at high rates.
