Gymnasium Social.
Yesterday evening the Gymnasium Social was held in the Public Hall, when a large number of patrons were present. The floor was, as usual, in excellent conditions, and numerous couples enjoyed themselves tripping lt lightly to the strains of music con ' tnbuted by several musicians who kindly gave their assistance. During the evening gold-centred medals wen presented to the best all-round man is ; the senior and in the junior classes. The recipient# of the were : Senior: Alex Currie. Junior: Gordon Wallace. In making the presentations Mr Bur*on remarfepd that it was Alec. Currie’s 88COud occasion of winning a medal, a very creditable achievement. Asi.ver-mountedpouch was then presented to Mr Collier, the instructor, who acknowledged the gift with ( a few well-chosen words. Mr A. F. Burton, who made the presenta - tion, is a vice president, and ex-secre-tary Club. During the gymnastic display, music was contributed by Mr J Brennan with a much-appre-ciated novelty in the form of concertina solos of a very high order. Miss ‘ Faes also gave a number of piano forte pieces in excellent style. During ; - the evening Mr Sceuart contributed to if* the' programme with a fine rendering , the song “Bluebell.” After the presentation, 1 refreshmen: s were handed round and dancing was afterwards resumed, the pleasant evening’s entertainment being wound up at a late hour to the satisfaction of all.
