MADRIGAL CONCERT COMPANY.
The above concert party performed in the Public Hall, Te Aroha, on Monday evening last, to a small but very appreciative audience. The first item on the programme was a baritone solo, ‘Song of the Toreador’ (Carmen), sung by Mr Hamilton Hodges. This gentleman is the possessor of a very p werf ul baritone voice of great range, a d showed that he knew how to use it to the best advantage. Mrs Hamilt n Hodges followed with a soprano solo entitled ‘Scene and Prayer’ (Der Frischiity), and in response to an encore sang ‘ Swanee River ’ in a manner which fairly brought down the house. This lady is undoubtedly the best singer that has been heard in Te Aroha for many years. Mrs Queree played a pianoforte solo in a most finished stylo, and showed that she had complete omnaand over her instrument. The remaining portion of the programme w s gone through iu the same finished manner, the last item being a quartette entitled ; Good Night, Beloved.’
