RAILWAY STRIKE.
Perth, Yesterday. A strike of railway engineers and firemen has occurred in consequence of the Government asking a locomotive engineer to resign owing to fiiction with the general manager. Only a few remain at their posts, and traffic throughout the colony is disorganised. Large gatherings have been held in various centres, and the police were required to keep order. The strikers cut a number of signal wires, and at Kalgoorlie seized the engine of a mail train about, to start for Perth. They took the engine some distance up the line and blew off steam, preventing it from getting away.
