Borough Council.
A special meeting of the Council was held iu the Domain Office on Monday last, when there wei’e present : His Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Edwards, Gallagher, Wallace, Bygrave, Hirst, and O’Meagher. The Council decided to go into Committee in dealing with applications forthe position of Town Clerk, etc., and Inspector of Nuisances. As already reported, Mr Wm. Hill was appointed to the former, and Mr J. Guilding to the latter position. Resolution re Loan.—ln accordance with notice, given, the Mayor moved “That the provisions of ‘ The Local Bodies Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ be adopted generally withip the Borough of Te Aroha by special order.” This will be confirmed at another special meeting to be held a month hence.
Complaint. Messrs Sherlock and Calder wrote complaining about damage done by storm water from Upper Bridge Street running through their sections. It was decided that the present pipes be taken up and replaced by oues large enough to carry off the water.
. Valuation List-—Mr Gilchrist having advised that a new valuation list should be prepared, it was decided to apply to Mr Bush, judge of the local Assesment Court, for the necessary permission to make same. Printing and Advertising. The Mayor was authorised to get tenders from the two local papers for advertising for twelve months at per inch, and also for certain printing. Special Meeting.—A special meeting will be held to-night to deal with these tenders, and also to pass a resolution whereby the Council adopts theTown Board Bye-laws. v
