Before F. Pavitt and Dr Smith, J’s.P
(T Saturday Harry Cornes was charged with stealing two turkeys valued Bs, the property of J. Brady, Gordon.
Curie table Forbes deposed that he l had had frequent complaints from people about this sort of thing, and he thought the offence (which was a serious one) should be put down. The penalty was imprisonment, but as thi6 was a first offence, he was loth to press for the full penalty, and therefore hoped the punishment would be in the form of a warning. The accused, who pleaded guilty, explained that his intention .was to shoot a hare, but the hare got among the turkeys \frhich was shot instead. The Bench admonish the accused to* be more careful when shooting in future, and ordered to pay 8s the cost of the turkeys, and Court costs 12s. Charges' against 0 Juo. Cornes, A. W. Hyde, and W. J. Hyde in connection with the same offence were withdrawn. J
