T.R.V. CONCERT.
The above concert was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday last,, and was a great success, a crowded and appreciative - audience being present. The programme had to undergo slight alteration,. Mr Skipwith failing to put in an appearance, however, this vacancy was more than compensated for by Mrs Seever, whose rendering of tho songs ‘ Island of Dreams,’ aud ‘ Cleansing Fires,! was highly appreciated and well received.. Miss Reid, who is always a favorite with Te Aroha audienoes, was a great success and encored on each occasion. H. Tonge,, in his usual free and pleasing manner,, simply brought down the house with his humorous songs;. Messrs Smales and Jackson rendered valuable assistance, and were heartily entored. Miss S. Stanley was very successful in her violin solo. It is a pleasure to notice the rapid' strides' this young lady is making as a violinist. The violin duet also was a very pleasing item by Misses S. and E.. Stanley. A word of praise is due to the able manner in which Mrs F. Gallagher and Mrs Menzies carried out the accompaniments, especially when the bad state. £ . which the piano is in is taken into , consideration. Bros; Whitten were vociferously encored for their duett Scottish Chief The concert was carried through: without a single hitch, under the able management of Capt. WhiteleyX . At the close of the. concert the hall was cleared, and Sergt. Neems,.with a staff of men, was* not long in piling away the seats, sweeping out the hall, and putting it in-, readiness for. the dance.
