Manawaru.
In your paper of May 24th you say our Manawaru correspondent has fallen into error with regard to the petition about the removal of the Te Aroha West School allow me to say the petition I referred too was the official petition dtawn up;by Mr- A. J Farmer on the night of the election of the School committee and signed by the Chairman Secretary; and nearly everyonepresent, what other petition was drawn up I know little or nothing about.. Allow me in,the name of the inhabitants of Mlnawaru to express our sincere sympathy with Mr and Mrs Stanley in the great loss and inconvenience'they have sustained through the late fire. [The fire at Mr Stanley’s farm was more serious than was anticipated resulting as it did in the loss: of a barn buggy, and twelve tons of chaffithe lot being valued at £IBO. The loss was a total one, nothing being saved and there being no insurance.—Ed
