A Dunedin correspondent writing on the subject of bi-mettalism in a contemporary says, amongst other things, I may also state that great surprise is expressed by our bimetallic friends at Home at the supineness of the colonies (the most heavily gold indebted people in the world); in not agitating for the repeal of the laws against the use of si w.ir money passed within the past 20* ypars. Everyone knows how: disastrous the results of this money contraction policy has been on the prices of our products. While our external ; debt remains the same the money value 1 of our products is halved to our enormous loss When every economist ttday admits that this is due to legislation preventing the use of silver money surely it is time that some of ©ur politicians wero looking into this matter., ■» ,
