School Committee.
The monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the School-room last night, when there were present: Messrs Gilchrist (chairman), Mackie, Wallace, Robinson, Stanley, Salmon and Hill (secretary),— A letter from the Hoard stating that tCoy were willing to grant the cost , '-f fitting- up the large class roon&, -Athe new system of hanging blackboards, V It was remitted to Messrs Salmon and Hill 1 to arrange for the proper performance of' certain contracts. The head teaeher reported that the average attendance for April had been 169, the Easter holidays havin< v reduced the average considerably.' Mr Marsdon was requested to furnish, the Committee-with a list of abseriteej, " with a view of getting Constable" Eorbea to look up the parents. :: If' there is no improvement in attendance by next meeting, summonses will be issued against the more flagrant offenders.
