Borough Council

In order to obviate the necessity for a double election of Councillors during . this year, it has been decided to fix the election, for sth July, instead of June as originally intended. The Councillors then elected will hold office until' September, 1899; This arrangement, however, doe& not, apply to the Mayoral election,which takes place on 9th July. This! date beiug be\ ond the statutory limit, a fresh election of Mayor will consequently have to take place in November next, after which,, the successful candidate holds office till November ia the following year.; * 1
