Domain Board.
The following, item of business transacted at the last meeting, of the above was crowded out of our last issue
Clerics (Salary.—The Clerk applied at last meeting for an increase of salary and the matter was discussed.. Com.. Mackie thought the present salary (8s . per week), was too small. Com Gallagher was opposed to any increase, as he did not think they could afford it. At any rate, he thought the Clerk , might wait over till the new Board was elected, before making any eliange. ; The Chairman supported Com Mackie, and pointed out that the work had greatly increased since the Clerk was appointed, and further, that the Government auditor held the responsible- for all monies in connection with the Domain revenue He con i siderecLMr Sue win was in every way deserving of an increase as he. performed hie duties in a manner which left nothing to be desired. Corns Knock and Bygrave concurred in this. The Chairman then- moved that the ; Clerk's salary be I9s per week, which was seconded by Com Knock, and on being put to the meeting was carried, i Com Gallagher dissenting. An amendment by Com Gallagher to the effect that the Clerk’s salary remain as at present, lapsed for want of a seconder.
