School Committee .
The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the Schoolhouse on Tuesday night, when there were present: Messrs Mackie, Wallace, Robinson, and Hill (secretary).
In the absence of Tie Chairman (Mr Gilchrist), Mr Mackie was voted to the chair. .
A circular was read from the Board of Education, in which attention of parents and teachers was drawn to the necessity of more care being taken with school furniture, etc. The monthly certificate for March, and the return for quarter ending March 3,lst, as submitted to the Committee by Mr Marsdon, showed the average attendance at school for month to be 171, and 173 for the quarter; the roll number in each case being 223.
The school was visited for purposes of inspection on 28th and 29th March by Inspector Dickenson, whose report was laid before the Committee. The Inspector’s report is most favourable as regards the good conduct and organisation of the school, and he also commends the teaching, staff for *• the souud methods of instruction,’ which, he says, ‘ are applied with considerable thoroughness and intelligence.’ The credit balance in. the Bank was reported to be £l2 10s 9d, and: accounts to the amount of £3 IQs were passed fur payment. The Secretary was instructed to arrange' for the supply of certain school requirements, and to have some minor repairs effected. . This is the final meeting of the present O'mm ttee-, as. the annual meeting of householders for the purpose of electing a new Committee, will take place in the schoolhouee on the evening of Monday 25tb inst*
