A meeting* of the above body was held at 2 o’clock on Thursday last, for the purpose of opening tenders of various works called for by the Council, Present; Crs MeAndrew (in the chair), Cock and Mitchell,

The following tenders were dealt with t— Contract for supply of necessary plant for Fire Brigade: W. J. Ellis (hose reel only) £37; 'J. H. Smith and Co. (hose reel and hydrant complete) £ 119 13s; J. Brennan (hose reel) £3O ; Mackay and Pratt (hose reel and hydrant complete.) Informal £B4 18s 6d. After a short discussion it was resolved that the tender of Joseph Brenan for hose reel only, and of Messrs J. Hague Smith and Co. for the. balance of the plant at a cost of £B7 3s, be accepted* For Grading and Forming portion of the Alpha Track, Waitekauri, five sections as follows ; Contract 286, section No. 2: Stanley and Robinson L 157 Is; H. McKay (accepted; L 137 ; P. Herbert L 205 16s. -
