No 1 Company. The remarkable efficiency attained by the Ohinemur-i Rifle Volunteers under its capable officers and instructors, has ■encouraged it to give the public a sample of its quality and we are informed, .that an assault-at-arms and concert, to be con-

cluded by a military farce, specially designed for this occasion, under the direction of that well known comedian Mr Harry Riley, will eventuate on the 18th. March., This entertainment is designed to impress the bellicose public and others interested’ in ‘deeds that won the empire,’ with the- advance science has made in regard to the physical needs of ‘Tommy Atkins,’ and maw military spectacles both new and; old, will form part, allowing the public to, form some opinion and comparison between ancient and up-to date methods, The ‘Co. er of the flock’’ has been selected for individual con-, contests, and the brightest exponents of the ‘ noble art ’ will exert all theirscience. Much local and other musical talent hao be,en ‘ conscripted,’ and we (promise the public a treat in the way of a combined Military and M «sic»l evening. The decorations are to be of the most approved military pattern, and some of the .professional soldiers who are now the most enthusiastic volunteers promise us a surprise in military stage effects.

A match was fired on Saturday last at Mackaytown Rifle Range between the No. 2 Ohinemuri Volunteers and Honourable Members: of the same corps.
