Shooting Watch.
TE AROHA RIFLES v. THAMES N AVALS. The Te Aroha Rifle Volunteers journeyed to the Thames on Saturday last to shoot the return match with the Thames Navals, The match was fired on the Parawai range, a few interested spectators witnessed the contest. The weather Was not very favorable for shooting,'as a strong wind was blowing right across from the sea, but nevertheless some very fair scores were made, and a dose contest resulted in the Navals winning by 14 points, but owing to the, ammunition running short, two men on each side ( Lukey and Dalton, Navals; and Buchan and Gallagher, Rifles), did not fire at the last range. The ranges were : 200yds, 300yds, and 500yds; seven shots at each. The visit:u-s’ team was under the charge of Lieutenant Hickson, and the home team under LieutenantCommander Potts and Lisuienaut Somerville. P.Q. B.rown,l«e aud Sergt. The Te Aroha team arrived home on Sunday afternoon, after having spent a most enjoyable outing.
