The following correspondence will explain itself: —
Dear Mrs Wild. —I have the pleasure to enclose cheque for ,£2l, which was sub* scribed for you by some of your husband’s friends at Te Aroha, Waiorongoinii, etc., on the occasion of your and his departure from this district. The subscribers regi’et your husband’s departure, but they were pleased at his promotion, and their wish ia that you may live long and bo happy. It is hoped that the cheque now enclosed may assist you in fixing up your new home by the “ sounding sea.” Yours, etc* P. Gilchrist.
